Overview
Students can take this course in the classroom and receive a QQI Level 6 Business Planning Award or take this course online and receive a Diploma in Business Planning from City Colleges.
The purpose of this award is to equip the learner with the knowledge, skill and competence to carry out a detailed investigation of a proposed idea and assess its viability and potential in setting up a business, working independently or within a supervisory capacity.
If paying in instalments by direct debit, the deposit to book a place is €150 and the balance is split into three equal monthly payments.
Learners will be able to
1 Evaluate the market opportunity for a new idea in terms of market size, market segments, customer behaviour and potential target markets
2 Apply the marketing concept and market segmentation strategies to a specific business and marketing plan
3 Apply financial planning techniques with particular reference to sources and uses of funds, cash flow and the layout of financial statements to a specific business and marketing plan
4 Recognise the importance of adopting effective marketing, quality control and customer service policies
5 Identify the key process for successfully marketing a product or service
6 Develop an awareness of the importance of personnel planning and facilities management
7 Evaluate the role and function of professional bodies/agencies within a relevant business domain
8 Apply business management theory to a practical scenario in the development of a viable business plan
9 Demonstrate a range of good communication skills to enable professional presentation of a business plan and associated proposals
10 Utilise key terminology associated with the business and marketing plan in order to generate a business and marketing plan. The purpose of this award is to equip the learner with the knowledge, skill and competence to carry out a detailed investigation of a proposed idea and assess its viability and potential in setting up a business, working independently or within a supervisory capacity
Assessment
Students must attend at least 80% of classes to graduate with either the Diploma or Certificate of Attendance unless a serious and verifiable reason for further absence is provided.
If completing the course online, students’ attendance and participation of the live or recorded classes is tracked through Moodle.
A pass grade on the written assignment will be required for awarding of the Diploma.
