Cyber Security encompasses everything that pertains to protecting our personal information, intellectual property, data, and industry information systems from theft and damage attempted by criminals and adversaries. It is based on the principles of maintaining confidentiality, integrity and availability.
Skilled cyber security professionals are in high demand. Organizations need employees who have a good understanding of the vulnerabilities, threats and risks that are inherent in IT devices, software, networks, and infrastructure.
This course is designed for students with some background working in information technology – working professionals looking to enhance their knowledge and explore various domains of cyber security. The lectures will cover the 8 domains of cyber security as recognized internationally in a Common Body of Knowledge for Certified Information Systems Security Professionals (CISSP). Students who wish to earn the CISSP designation should take this course as part of their preparation and study plan to prepare for the CISSP exam. This course will include a detailed textbook to study the concepts as well as access to hundreds of practice exam questions.
We will not include hands on technical labs in this course as it is designed to educate the students on the foundations of security programs and the complex interconnections of the various domains of cyber security.

Stephanie Ewing has 20 years of experience in information technology and information security leadership. She spent several years working with leaders of critical infrastructure organizations across the nation to improve their security programs. Through workshops, training classes and tabletop exercises, Stephanie has worked to educate organizations on security threats and risk management strategies. Stephanie has held various technology leadership positions in the utility industry including several years managing enterprise security operations. Her experience includes the implementation of corporate governance, risk and compliance programs, security awareness training and security operations.
In addition to her professional experience, Ms. Ewing holds a Bachelor of Arts degree in Technical Communication and a Master of Arts degree in Organizational Management. She is a Certified Information Systems Security Professional (CISSP) and formerly a certified Project Management Professional (PMP) and a Certified Information Security Manager (CISM).
Stephanie is a lifelong health and wellness enthusiast. She is a Registered Yoga Teacher (RYT-500) and continues to train in traditional, Himalayan yoga science, including meditation, body postures, mental focus and concentration, chanting, etc. She honors the history and teachings of Himalayan masters – passed on for thousands of years. Stephanie is also an avid endurance athlete. As a marathon runner, she has logged thousands of miles all around the world, over the years. She enjoys teaching group fitness classes, yoga and running clinics. In her free time, she also swims, bikes, hikes and is learning rock climbing.
After spending most of her life living in Texas, USA, Stephanie relocated to Ireland to experience the great Irish outdoors.
