UX/UI design refers to the process of creating user-friendly and visually appealing digital experiences for websites, applications, and other interactive products. UX (User Experience) design focuses on understanding user needs, behaviours, and preferences to design interfaces that are intuitive, efficient, and enjoyable to use. It involves conducting user research, creating user personas, and designing user flows to optimize the overall user journey. On the other hand, UI (User Interface) design concentrates on the visual aspects of the digital product, including the layout, colour scheme, typography, and interactive elements. It aims to create visually pleasing and cohesive designs that align with the brand identity and effectively communicate the product’s functionality and purpose.
In this course, you will be introduced to the core concepts, methodologies, and tools that shape the creation of user-friendly and visually appealing digital experiences. Through a blend of theory and practical exercises, you’ll learn how to design interfaces that not only look great but also deliver an intuitive and seamless user experience.

Tom Noone
Tom has worked as a Resource Worker, Artist and Educator with City of Dublin Education and Training Board. Throughout this period, he has continued to develop his social art practice and community outreach through individual awards and residencies with national and international organisations (Arts Council, CREATE, Creative Ireland, Development Perspectives etc.). This combination of teaching practice and
socially-engaged art practices has allowed Tom to engage in driving his passion for social arts, technological practice and programme development in education.
As an educator and researcher, Tom’s work has focused on major societal trends and the transformational challenges they pose for educational organisations. Tom’s passion for educational programme development has been driven by his research into the dynamics of disengaged learners. Across Tom’s work experiences as an educator, artist, and facilitator, he has been fortunate to learn and develop his analytical, teaching, management, support and communications skills.
Alongside the curricula design, Tom utilizes continued professional development in universal design learning and Technology Enhanced Learning Mentoring Support to enhance the students experience in education. Through this work and Tom’s previous experience in education, he has developed strong interpersonal, management and organisational skills in technical, written and verbal formats.
Tom has a 1st class honours undergraduate degree in Communications and Creative Media from Dundalk Institute of Technology and this has provided him with excellent technical skills in information and communications technologies where he has become proficient in Microsoft and Adobe suites and most importantly, where he has learned the importance of flexibility and adaptability to both changing organisational and technical demands.
