Welcome to City Colleges’ King’s Inns Exam Preparation Courses. The Honorable Society of King’s Inns entrance examinations consists of five papers. Constitutional law, Law of Contract, Criminal law, Law of Evidence and the Law of Tort. To be eligible to sit these examinations, students must have either an approved Law degree or have completed the Honorable Society of King’s Inns Diploma in Legal Studies course. All materials are provided including up-to-date materials and past examination papers. This exam preparation course is delivered by dedicated lecturers. Our lecturers have many years of experience in preparing students to pass these entrance examinations.
Our King’s Inns Exam Preparation Courses are offered throughout June, July and August. The next course is enrolling now.
Our King’s Inns Preparation Courses are delivered from our Dublin City Centre. This is located on South Great George’s Street, Dublin 2. We will be streamed live as well recorded and made available for later review.

Lecturers
Brendan Foley – Law Of Evidence
Brendan graduated with a degree in English Literature from Trinity College Dublin in 1996. He was called to the Irish Bar in 2005, and has been in practice at the Bar and lecturing on professional courses since 2006. He was awarded the Antonia O’Callaghan prize for Constitutional Law in 2004.
Since 2008, Brendan has lectured in Constitutional law, Equity & Trusts, Company law and European law for FE1 candidates. He has also lectured on the King’s Inns Entrance Examination course in Constitutional law since 2008.
Ciarán Lawlor – Tort Law
BCL, LLM, BL
Ciarán Lawlor is a practicing Barrister and an experienced legal educator. Ciarán graduated from University College Dublin with an Honours Degree in Law, and proceeded to study at the Honorable Society of the King’s Inns. He completed his studies at the King’s Inns and was called to the Irish Bar in 2005. He subsequently
completed an LLM in European Law also at UCD, graduating with distinction.
Prior to commencing practice at the Irish Bar, Ciarán interned with leading Irish law firm A&L Goodbody, and with Amnesty International (Ireland), and was an IRCHSS funded project assistant on the EU Law PhD project at UCD. His practice focuses on civil law, with an emphasis on contract and commercial litigation, debt-collection, defamation, personal injuries, and tort law generally.
Ciarán has a broad experience of teaching law. He has been a Senior Tutor in UCD, and has lectured in tort law on the Graduate Diploma in Arbitration in UCD.
Conor Duff – Contract Law / Evidence

Conor Duff B.L., Dean of Law at City Colleges, lectures in the areas of Contract and EU law for FE-1 students, a selection of City Colleges’ Professional programmes and our BA (Hons) in Business Studies programme.
Conor is a seasoned lecturer and has a proven track record of academic delivery across other colleges and Universities, including the Law Society of Ireland.
He is a graduate of Maynooth University (LL.B.) (Hons.), Trinity College Dublin (LL.M.), the Honorable Society of King’s Inns (B.L.) and the Law Society of Ireland (Dip. Construction Law). He graduated from Maynooth University and Trinity College with
first-class honours degrees with distinction for his LL.M. Dissertation. He is a member of the EBA, CBA and Members’ Committee of the Irish Society for European Law.
Conor has published widely in various national legal journals including the Commercial Law Practitioner and the ICLJ. Conor was a co-editor of the leading EU Treaties text which is permitted for use in FE-1 and QLTT examinations.
Simon Donagh – Constitutional Law

Simon is a lecturer at City Colleges and a practicing barrister as a member of the Bar of Ireland. Since 2016 he lectures in constitutional law on the FE1, King’s Inns and QLTT courses.
Simon is also currently a tutor on the Barrister-at-Law Degree Course in the King’s Inns.
He previously lectured in advocacy and mooting in UCD as well as tutoring in property law and contract law.
Simon is a graduate of UCD having studied law with philosophy and graduating in 2011. Having completed the Barrister-at-Law Degree in the King’s Inns, he was called to the Bar in 2012. His practice at the Bar focuses on criminal law, employment and equality law, civil
litigation, judicial review and constitutional litigation.
Simon has a particular interest in the impact of the Constitution in criminal proceedings.
Noeleen Healy – Criminal Law
Noeleen is a practising barrister who was called to the Bar in 2018. In 2020, she was awarded the Catherine McGuinness Fellowship, working for one year with the Children’s Rights Alliance, whilst practising full-time at the Bar. She graduated from NUIG, obtaining a commerce degree followed by a postgraduate law degree. She then obtained an LLM in Peace Operations, Humanitarian Law and Conflict from the Irish Centre for Human Rights. She also holds an advanced diploma in data protection law from the King’s Inns.
Prior to commencing practice at the Bar, Noeleen worked as a Legal Clerk with the Legal Aid Board working primarily with international protection and immigration clients, as well as complainant representation in rape cases. She has worked as a judicial assistant at the High Court and as a legal researcher for the Gardaí, focused on human rights obligations of members. Noeleen has volunteered with FLAC as well as with a number of migrant-rights and civil society organisations.
Noeleen has had a number of case reports published by Oxford University Press Reports on Public International Law, related to proceedings before international criminal tribunals. She has extensive lecturing experience. She regularly provides CPD courses to solicitors and legal executives as well as teaching at undergraduate level.
