Course Overview
IT Fundamentals focuses on the essential IT skills and knowledge needed to perform tasks commonly performed by advanced end-users and entry-level IT professionals alike, including:
- Using features and functions of common operating systems and establishing network connectivity
- Identifying common software applications and their purpose
- Using security and web browsing best practices
This course is intended for candidates who are advanced end users and/or are considering a career in IT. It is also a good fit for individuals interested in pursuing professional-level certifications, such as CompTIA A+
This course is divided into five modules, each covering a different subject area. Each module is organized into several units, containing related topics for study.
■ Module 1 / Using Computers

■ Module 4 / Using Networks
■ Module 5 / Security Concepts
We try to present topics and technologies in the order that will make it easiest for you to understand them. Each module and each unit start with a list of domain objectives and content examples that will be covered so that you can track what you are learning. Each unit has a set of review questions designed to test your knowledge of the topics covered in the unit.
ITF is aimed at those considering a career in IT and computer-related fields. Consequently, there are no special prerequisites to start this course. We have made the assumption that you don’t know much about how computers or software work, or even how to use them. Some experience with using a keyboard and mouse will be helpful but is not essential.

Some of the areas covered by Paul in this time include; General Computer Hardware / Software training, Microsoft Office, Adobe Creative Suite, Programming Languages such as HTML, JavaScript, and Python.
Prior to and during this time spent teaching, Paul successfully established a Web and Graphic Design business, creating a large portfolio of clients.
Paul has a vast knowledge of business, being involved in the retail sector for many years, owning and running his own retail outlets in Dublin, this business experience includes the introduction of an international retailing brand, involving the opening of multiple retail outlets around Ireland.
